The modern Tangie cultivar is generally credited to DNA Genetics/Crockett Family Farms and was bred from California Orange × Skunk genetics. That pairing combined the intensely citrus character associated with old-school California orange strains with the vigor and unmistakable aromatic influence of Skunk.
Tangie became enormously popular during the 2010s and earned recognition at cannabis competitions around the world. Its success also made it an important breeding strain in its own right, with Tangie genetics appearing in numerous newer citrus-focused cultivars.
The result is a strain that connects two different eras of cannabis breeding: the classic California citrus and Skunk lines of decades past and the terpene-focused breeding that helped define modern cannabis.
